The interviews of Sugarmania // Francesca Petronzi
These are interviews with passionate people of pastry and cake design.
I wanted to create this column for a long time, it was my dream giving space to the people who live with this beautiful passion. It doesn't matter if you are a professional or a simple passionate, the art of pastry and cake design are open to everyone. Don't necessarily have to do very complicated scenic or sweet cakes. Just have fun creating sweets for your own dear or friends.
See satisfaction in the eyes of people and especially children, when they receive a dessert is a priceless thing.
I myself often gave desserts made by me and to tell the truth, I also love to receive them! For me, receiving a dessert is how to touch sky with a finger - I admit it, I'm very delicious - And I melt like snow in the sun.
I am happy and honored to open this column with an interview with a wonderful person, which I respect a lot. An imaginative artist and an exceptional person: Francesca Petronzi. A sweet girl, who loves to create her cakes for relatives and friends with lots of love and dedication.
Interview with Francesca Petronzi
Welcome to our Francesca blog, it's a great honor for us to interview you.
1 // tell us something about you
My name is Francesca Petronzi, in Art Francesca Francy Sugar Bacini, Class 1981. I graduated in law, but my biggest passion is that for cake design. I am also a mother of a beautiful baby, Alessia, who is 4 years old and my life revolves around her. I am a creative girl, kind, cheerful, but also a little touchy. I love colors, modelable pastas and art in general.
2 // When and how did you discover the world of pastry and cake design?
As a child I have always prepared sweets. The passion was handed down by my maternal grandfather, who had a pastry bar in Calabria. With time I continued my passion under the careful guidance of my mom, learning so many small tricks from her. I love preparing leavened, modern Christmas cakes and traditional sweet sweets. Growing up I refined my knowledge of pastry and cake design inspired by American and Spanish pastry chefs, buying different magazines and encyclopedias in the sector.
3 // Do you prefer to try your hand at classical, modern or cake design?
While having done any specific school in the industry, I have refined my manual skills under the cake design. I love creating flowers, characters and three-dimensional sugar paste subjects. My greatest satisfaction is to see the eyes of children shine at the view of their favorite characters on the cake I made for them.
4 // Is there any artist, pastry or cake designer to whom you inspire you?
I don't have a cake designer in particular to which I inspire me, but sometimes they ask me to make a specific cake created by others to whom I have to inspire me by force. To make my favorite creations use a personal style of my own.
5 // Have you ever made a course or a pastry or cake design competition?
This year I participated in a competition: "Top Cake", with the boys of Bake Off and Judge Damiano Carrara in La Spezia. I passed various steps and in the final I was proclaimed with my great astonishment and satisfaction, winner. I also held various decoration courses for adults and children in shopping centers in my area, in Abruzzo.
6 // Do you have a favorite modeling tool?
I use very little tools as I prefer to shape the characters with your hands, but among those few that they should never miss it is Set 6 silicone brushes for modeling with sugar paste.
7 // What is the product you buy most often on the site Sugarmania?
A product that I always use for my creations are the Square colored underorted tablets And the comfortable Cake boxes. In addition, Modeling sugar paste Saracino and sugar paste for coverage Modecor Pop, Food dyes And many other products depending on the type of cake that I have to realize.
8 // Have you ever thought of turning your passion into a job?
Yes one day I would like, but for now I prefer to dedicate most of my free time to my little girl.

My first creation of cake design was the cake for my granddaughter, which was 1 year ago. I made a cake covered with cream with 2D paste decorations and bee and bee.

A 'last Francesca question. Has it ever happened to you to combine some disaster? Have you managed to remedy?
It happened to me with the first three-story cake (all real). In the transport to the restaurant the cake has all moved and a completely ruined floor. Imagine the race back to go home and take all the material to try to save the sink. I had to throw a part of the cake, which no longer served, restock it again and cover it with sugar paste. Fortunately, even if with anguish, I managed to better remedy the possible disaster.
Francesca, I thank you for your precious interview and I wish you to make many people happy with your cakes in the future.
