Resolution of online disputes
To solve consumer problems online fairly and effectively, without going to court
If you have problems with products or services purchased online, you can use the platform made available by the European Commission to present a complaint and find a solution from an independent dispute resolution organ.
Consumer protection legislation in the EU guarantees that everyone has the right to be treated equally when they buy goods and services online or offline.
European legislation ensures consumers:
- A fair treatment
- Products that comply with acceptable standards
- The right to appeal in case of problems
Before presenting a complaint to a merchant, it may be useful to know more about your rights, so as to know the rights and the means of appeal that apply to your situation.
Many organizations from the whole EU can provide useful information on consumer rights. If you have a problem related to buying products or services from a trader based in another EU country, you can contact your European consumer center (etc.) for free.
European consumer centers can
- Provide consultancy on your consumer rights
- Help yourself resolving a dispute with a merchant based in another EU country, Iceland or Norway, without resorting to a court
- advise you to contact another interlocutor, if they can't help you
